Langste Vegetarische Tafel 90% bio, met Nature & More

180 kilos of cucumber, tomato, zucchini and sweet pepper from Nature & More will make a significant contribution to the organic content of the Longest Vegetarian Table in the Netherlands this Wednesday. The giant meal will take place at the Museumplein in Amsterdam; more than 600 table guests are expected. Chef Erik Wilschut: "Since I started to realize that fertilizer and pesticides are made in chemical factories, I almost only cook organic food. The Longest Vegetarian Table will therefore be 90% organic."

The record attempt on Wednesday 11 July is again organized by the Vegetariƫrsbond. Last year the Longest Vegetarian Table was organized for the first time in Utrecht; the record was set with 220 participants. Chef Erik Wilschut received the fresh vegetables from Nature & More last Friday. He is not only a fan of vegetarian food, but also of organic. Wilschut: "People often forget that you get pesticides not only through your food, but also through the air, if you live near such a factory. That's why I've been cooking an organic three-course meal every Wednesday for twenty years at restaurant Zaal 100 in Amsterdam, for a minimum amount. "

The vegetables from Nature & More that will be used this coming Wednesday come mainly from Dutch growers: cucumber from Fons Verbeek (code 166 at www.natureandmore.com ), tomato from Jeroen and Annie van Leeuwen (code 555), and bell pepper from Ruud van Schie (code 550). Meat-free, organic and local: it cannot be healthier and more sustainable. In addition, all guests at the table receive a bag of organic bee-friendly flower seed from Nature & More.

Nature & More is the Eosta trace & tell brand. Through its Great Initiatives program Nature & More sponsors sustainable social initiatives with fruit & vegetables. www.natureandmore.com
